Kick That Ball!
This is one of the first pieces of digital art I ever made, in 1993 or thereabouts, a soccer or rugby player. In retrospect it’s an OK job, except his left leg looks a little off. It took a couple of hours to do hunched in front of the computer monitor. I tried to capture [...]

The White Stag
One of the more unusual children’s books I’ve come across is The White Stag by Kate Seredy, who also did the marvelous art deco style illustrations. It’s the story of the Huns and Magyars as they made their way to Hungaria from central Asia. Featuring, of course, Attila.
I found the book in Port Angeles, Washington, [...]

Best Buds
Some pictures just make you go awwww.
The late Santa Claws (on the right) and Peanut sharing a wicker cat basket.
In the same vein, Morcio and Toby share their favorite sleeping space in the Angulo family house in Mexico City.

Calvin Warner’s Wedding
Here’s a very interesting picture… the wedding photo of Calvin Warner and Frances Fischell (Franciska Washeloeski.) It was taken some time in the 1900s or early 1910s, from the clothing. The bride and groom are seated at the center of the picture. Frances is holding a flower bouquet and Calvin has a carnation in his buttonhole. The [...]

Muchachos
This is one of those pictures that desperately needs a caption. Acapulco, fun in the sun, nocturnal revelries, etc. You know how it is (or was.)
I’m third from the left, but you knew that, right?
ETA: These are the famous Acapulco cliff divers, of course. And no, they are not the father(s) of my friend’s baby!

Fun Fun Fun on the Autobahn
An animated music video from the German band Kraftwerk dating from the early 1970s. There’s a lot of Yellow Submarine psychedelic imagery in here and a very European sense of surrealism.
Some members of the family should remember this (the song at least.)

The Rabbit in the Moon
The Aztecs, like the Japanese, believed in a rabbit in the moon, not a man in the moon. The legend is this.
When the gods created the world, it had no light, so they all got together to decide what to do. Finally it was determined that one of them would have to sacrifice himself or [...]
