Disney/Sea World
Hi everyone – attached are some pics from our VERY brief trip to Disney World. Have also attached some pics of the family…. Disney seemed smaller than I “remember” and many of the rides remained the same (e.g.: “It’s A Small World” ride). Zoe had a great time. The twins stayed home with my MIL [...]

Dolly
This is my first doll. Like Tracy’s little dog in the garage, I still have her. She is a genuine kewpie doll, and my Uncle George gave her to me for my first Christmas. Her name is Dolly Deirdra Rose Kewpie Cameo Madison O’Neill Dittrich.
Dolly – because she’s a doll
Deirdra – because she’s a dear

The Life and Times of Juicy the Pigeon
When I was six years old a half-tame pigeon used to sit on the apex of our garage roof. I named him Juicy, because he was so plump he looked like he was waiting to be someone’s dinner. With some patience, and help from my mother, I eventually was able to coax him down and [...]

This is official police business, ma’am.
Sgt. Howard Edward Warner of the Trenton Police Force, 1959
My father worked for a while as a police officer in the late 1950s and early 1960s for Trenton’s finest. I can’t quite make out the stripes on his jacket but they seem to be those of a sergeant. He looks like he’s answering a call here [...]

Down the Shore, Part I
Even more than a pool, a visit down the shore was a necessity in the hot NJ summers. This pic, also from a contact sheet, was taken on an amusement pier in 1961.
That’s my cousin Richard Warner, my mom, Virginia Warner, and Janine Warner (DeBolt). I am not sure if it’s Seaside Heights or Atlantic [...]

Pool Party in Trentwood
I found this photo in a contact print that my dad had made in his darkroom. It’s from the summer 0f 1961 when Hans and Helen Dittrich had recently moved into into their new Cape Cod style house in Trentwood… as that little post-war development in the far south of Trenton was marketed back then… and what? [...]

Frozen Smoothies
I love my smoothie maker! It’s just a cheap one I got at WalMart, but it works so much better than a blender for making frozen treats.
I use all sorts of things that I aleady have. When I buy fresh fruit, and then see that I won’t finish them before they go bad, I freeze [...]

Helen’s New Home
Mom has moved into a new home.
Mercer County Geriatric Center
2300 Hamilton Av. Room #408
Hamilton NJ 08619
609-588-5821
She doesn’t have a phone in her room, but if you call the main number they will bring her to the phone. Or the phone to her. She moved in yesterday, and I called today. Even though she had only [...]

Aztec!
Aztec was perhaps the boldest of my grade school reports. Not for the content, but for the startling image on the cover (clipped from an old National Geographic magazine) and the eye-catching title. To think! I was the only one in the whole school to see the possibilities of mirrored aluminum foil lettering. However, looking [...]
