Google and LIFE
Farm cats getting a squirt of milk, LIFE magazine, 1954 Google partnered recently with the owners of the LIFE magazine archive, putting tens of thousands of photos from American history up on the net. I did a search on “New Jersey” and some other places and these are a few that came up. New Jersey [...]

Johnny Sokko
Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot was an awesome Japanese kid’s show of the late 1960s that was syndicated in the US when I was a wee one. Marvel at the styrofoam rocks, the cheap smoke bombs, the clumsy, sluggish kung-fu moves of the rubber-costumed monsters! This English-dubbed version made in the early 1970s was [...]

Virgil Finlay
Virgil Finlay was a science fiction artist in the early 50′s. Uncle Joe had a folder of some of his work that I really enjoy looking at. This one is titled “The Conquest of the Moon”. There are 16 drawings in this set, still in the envelope they were mailed in. Postage was 5 cents. [...]

Strange Critter
This sure looks like some sort of kangaroo, doesn’t it? But it was taken on one of our cross country road trips in the 60′s. I know it isn’t Australia because all the cars are driving on the correct side of the road.

Christmas 1960
Let’s continue the Christmas theme… Here I am in 1960, which would make me 8 years old. I’m at the Mastelesz house with Steven and Kenny. And just look at that tree! Tinsel does wonders. So just keep looking at the tinsel and ignore my hair. If you use a magnifying glass, you can maybe [...]
