Charity Walk
Every May, the visitor industry has a charity walk through Waikiki. At every stop, when you get your card stamped, you also get some food. It’s the only “marathon” type walk where you gain weight!
And then at the end, there’s entertainment, and a raffle. Oh yes, and more food! They serve plate lunches at the [...]

Pin-up Boy
What do you call a tummy paunch in both Spanish and Italian? A panza. A little panza is a panzita. But a giant panza, a panzaonno.

Chanticleer
This is an amazing red sun flower that we saw at a really neat place called Chanticleer. Joan, Valerie and I went there last Summer. It’s someone’s huge estate full of all sorts of gardens. They open it to the public, and what I really liked was that it wasn’t commercialized at all. The only [...]

Barb Wire
I was a year and a half old, and I’m thinking this was at Aunt Nan’s house because she’s the one who had the potty. Uncle Joe’s nickname for me was Barb Wire. I love my little saddle shoes!

Vi’s version of Day at the Beach
Not exactly The Birds, but it still felt weird.

A Day at the Beach
One day last Summer, some friends from work , myself and Violet went to Kailua Beach Park. We had a pizza delivered to us there. Alas! It wasn’t quite what we ordered. Fortunately the pizza delivery guy was the son of another co-worker (small island, heh). He was glad to go back and get us [...]
